Micra 2001 1.4 engine. Any good?

Micra 2001 1.4 engine. Any good? - McP
SWMBO has had a couple of 1 litre Micras which have been pretty good.

We are now looking for a small car that is suitable for regular motorway driving.
Is the 1.4 engine any good?
Does it have a cam chain?

According to HJ 'all recent Micra' have a cam-chain...so I would assume so?

It is essentially the same engine, but of larger capacity. Same twin-cam chain-driven with Bosch/Nissan ECCS engine management.

I have a 1.3 K11 from 96 and it's a little gem - very willing and rev happy, and quite capable of holding motorway speeds at a steady 3000 revs.

I have a 1.4 Sport plus.
Yes, it has a chain driven cam and is much more lively than the 1 litre.
It is fine on the motorway and is well worth getting if you can find one, rather than the smaller engine.
