pugeot 306 central locking - ronnie_rev
I have a peugeot 306 with central locking. It has the fob with the big button and the small button on it. The problem is if you lock the car with the key it instantly unlocks itself. This happens which ever side you try to lock. Any ideas what is causing this problem and how to fix it. Not sure what it will do with the fob because as luck would have it, this is broke too. Cheers

The central locking system on a 306 behaves as you describe if one of the doors isn't fully closed.

By implication therefore it will behave as you describe if the door is closed but an electrical fault exists.
Assuming your doors are all closed, here we have a possible cause; 306s are well known for wiring breaking in the door jambs - usually the driver's door as it get's the most open-close usage - leading to erratic behaviour of electrical systems in the doors.

If this is the cause, Peugeot sell a replacement wiring kit and thanks to Backroomer Seth, we have a photo journal on how to install it: sethtregenna.blogspot.com/

I had this happen when a piece of cloth which was caught in the boot catch was preventing electrical contact. Removing the cloth brought the system back to normal.
