Anti-dive Xantia - sitting on it's heels - Chad.R
I posted a few months ago that the STOP light on my ?96 Xantia 1.9TD Estate was taking a long time to go out, recently I?ve started to notice another irregularity ?

My car is equipped with the anti-dive suspension, however I started to notice that its begun to ?sit on its heels? i.e. the rear suspension drops (wheel arch drops to just below the top of the tyres, normally there is a 2-3 inch gap) after you switch the engine off, the front stays at the normal level. This probably started a few months back and has been gradually getting worse enough to notice.

After a ?cold? start, the stop light goes off but comes on about 3 or 4 times within the first 30 seconds (for a couple of seconds at a time). After that all is OK.

The car has done 135K+ and has been serviced every 6K,
I?ve checked the LHM level (at full height) and it?s at the top level,
The rear sphere where replaced (for new items) at 129K,
and yes, the car is set for the correct height.

Any ideas what may be the cause ?

PS. I remember from my last post, Darcy mentioned that my accumulator sphere may be on the way out ? is this another symptom ?

Chad,

Did you have just the rear pair of spheres replaced? I think yours will have the middle anti-sink sphere as well, was this replaced?

Aha.........David, I knew I could rely on you to come up with the trump card.

No, the middle anti-sink sphere wasn't replaced - I'll get on to Louis Barber my "local" independent Citroen specialist and try and have it replaced at the next service.

Many thanks,

Chad
