Hi,
My father's 1999 414 16 valve needed a new cam belt 3 years ago (at 5 years old), the mileage was only 20k but the belt was on it's way out due to it's age.
It was done at an independant who charged £50 labour plus the price of the belt & other bits.

Getting done for 75 plus Vat belt kit at £55 too.

Get the coolant changed at the same time mate with the correct Rover ready mixed stuff if it's more than 2 years old, keeps head gasket problem at bay

will do dieselhead gonna ask the bloke to do whilst he is at the cam belt.
Do most places whip the thermostat off too when they flush?
He wont look at me funny if i ask that will he?

not normally,you have to ask for it to be done and will probably cost a bit more due to its location,good idea to get it changed though!
