i have a mk4 golf with the chunky expensive looking wipers...the g/f turned them on when frozen the other day so they now need replacing
are refill inserts avaialable for these or do you replace the whole blade?
|
I once put inserts onto my old blades to save money. The first time it rained the inserts flew off, it was rather unpleasant to say the least.
If I were you I would get some new blades, they can be rather expensive, but there is a website which sells Bosch blades, try googling wiper blades.

If you fit the inserts properly there is no reason they should fly off. You are only doing what they do at the factory. Many people cut the wrong end off when they trim them to size and lose the retaining notches at the end of the insert. I got two yesterday for my Mondeo, £3.99 the pair as opposed to ten quid for one complete blade.

Genuine VAG Aero refills are available on eBay.
Had some myself and they are fine

robin reliant....where did you get some for £3.99 and are they marked for aero wipers etc?
alec , can you reccomend a ebay seller thats trusty?
|
I got mine at a local Motorworld. There are a few of these round here, not sure if they are nationwide or not but I should think most of the High St car shops (except Halfords who nowdays seem to specialise in charging double what everyone else does) will do similar or even cheaper. I should think the refils are the same on aero and non-aero wipers.

The inserts are the same on Aeros as for normal steel-framed wipers.
I have had bad experience with some refills, and good with other. Currently I have some terrible ones from ebay Germany. Now that there is competition on the flat-blade front from Valeo X-TRM, Classic Fusion and Jamak, I'm surprised the price of Bosch Aeros hasn't come down, and they haven't become more popular in the retrofit market.
