vectra front passenger airbag

vectra front passenger airbag - hackett
hi all
got a baby due in 5 weeks and and want to put the car seat in the front passenger seat but there is a notice saying no car seat because of the air bag.
is it possible to turn the airbag off ourselfs or is it a job for the garage.

It would be just easier to put the child in the back seat wouldn't it?

If the car is not equiped with a switch to turn it off and a warning light to tell you its off, then you cant do it. The garage could do it via the computer but wont because of health and safety, insurance and liability reasons.
