My cigarette lighter doesn't work so can't use phone charger, satnav or tyre compressor. Having said that, when I plug the tyre inflator in, I can get the display to work in order to set the pressure but this disappears as soon as I switch the compressor on. Similiairly, when i insert the tomtom car chrager in, the green light comes on but disappears as soon as I connect it to the tomtom. Has anyone got any ideas? Its seems there is a current ,but not sufficient enough to power anything useful. Is this a Pug thing?

No its a bad connection somewhere. Finding it is going to be the hard thing but start by looking at the prongs within the lighter socket itself first. Be careful you don't fuse it though.

i hope its the socket, i dont fancy tearing the dash apart to find the loose connection. Incidently, its a 97 car, but the lighter has never been used, maybe cos its never worked. bit of a pain considering i got a 12 hour drive to south of france and tomtom lasts 4hrs.
