I've got an 03 53 punto 1.3 multijet diesel and the red engine symbol at the bottom of the rev counter comes on a minute or so after start up and stays on. Car drives as normal though, any one got any ideas what this could be?

Not starting 2007 on a sarcastic note but what does the handbook say? It generally means that there is an ECU fault, the details of which can be got at by a dealer with a fault code reader. Good luck in any event - may the result be good and bill be small!

Thanks for your advice, handbook says to refer to dealer as you'd expect. Someone has suggested I disconnect the battery for a couple of hours so I'll give it a go and let you know how I get on.

Do you need a radio code & is there any battery back up alarm that needs attention before you disconnect the battery?
Look in your handbook before breaking the spanners out.

Radio ok, no alarm so spanners at the ready! I'll keep you posted.

Now reconnected batt but light comes on as before. Look like off to dealers unless anyones got anymore ideas.
