The Clio 1.6 8v K7M engine does not have hydraulic tappets though valve clearances are not scheduled for checking by Renault or Haynes, Haynes say check if noisy or if running symptoms suggest to do so. Car is fine though should the clearances be checked after eight years and 43,000 miles?

If its like the Peugeot TU & 8 valve XU engines then if it aint broke you dont fix it.
If tis running ok with no rattles from the valve gear then I would leave well alone.

I think this is the same engine as in the old 8v Megane. If so, mine went to 100K without adjustment and problems. A very nice economical and torquey engine.
