Got a puncture repaired at weekend. One screw and one skelf of metal, less than 1 foot apart.
Cost - six pounds.

This is what I thought.
As for meat and high performance tyre - it is a Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 fitted to a BMW 530d. It is less than 4000 miles old.

Lost a couple of new-ish tyres over the years as screw nail in close to the edge of tyre, about 30mm in. But in the centre and a foot apart, go to another fitter for a 2nd opinion but don't mention earliers statement.
BTW - wifes car 3 years old last week, francishe dealer passed mot but adised nail in centre of tyre. opted not to fix but take to Kwikfit - shock, and horror as the asked for 17 pounds for repair. It used to be about 6/7 a year back.
Good news, the technician thought the nail may have not gone right through and try and take out at my risk - low and behold, just a small 7mm piece of metal about 3mm in diameter. = so no repair required :)
