It's very easy really.....

I'm sure the vendor (a trader) doesn't mind, especially after all this free publicity.

Poor taste in cars though for a young lad.

Mmm.... do you think his next purchase will be a Copen or a StreetKa?
|
I'd still be waiting for my 9 grand.
But seriously, moral niceties aside... a contract is a contract and would the outcome have been this way if the item had only cost 9 quid. What evidence does the parent have that it was indeed the 3-year old. We can all pull that stunt.
|
I've heard some stunts for getting out of a deal..... so unlikely this one, though, that it must be true!
"Evidence"? What do you mean? Should they have a webcam on the child at all times? By the sound of it, he could probably wire it up himself...

Sounds very fishy to me?
1.reminds me of the chap that got the accerlator stuck on the motorway.
2. recent 'lost' swimmer in the channel
turns out both were 'tall tale' stories

I thought that the view was that Ebay 'contracts to buy' are not enforceable anyway. Not going thro can only result in negative feedback. Altho negative feedback will hurt sellers ratings the effect on a buyer is negligible as they can always start a ne identity. Wise to keep buying and selling separate.
PU to comment???

This was on our local news. The general concensus was the seller could demand payment. ebay are an introducer, you have no contract with them (apart from the agreement to pay fees). The contract is betwen buyer and seller. Seller offers product, buyers bids, seller accepts, valid contract.
Being an old cynic I also thought it made a good cover up story for someone trying to buy something they couldn't afford!
|
I'm sure the seller isn't too bothered because he gets his name/company in the local (and now, national) press - he'll probably have buyers queuing up to buy that pink monstrosity too! ;-)

Lots of coverage of the little b**er and lots of coverage of the seller / car lot on BBC lunchtime news.
Seller says he has a lad of the same age but his lad would not be that good at buying off the web!!!

And I thought my 3 year old was clever. Would love to see how he did that.
