Scenic 2 trip computer warning - SpudM

Have had warning on trip computer for a couple of days; "catalytic coverter" and "service" orange warning lights illuminated and computer message to "check emissions". Fuel tank was approx one quarter full. After filling fuel tank the warning disappeared.
I wondered whether emissions warning was caused by dirty fuel in bottom of tank affecting the exhaust emissions or was the timing of the warning clearing, a spooky coincidence.
Car has done 24K but was serviced by dealer at 18K as prescribed. Anyone had a similar problem ?
