Astra sport - traction control fault - chakra
Hi

I have recently started hasving a problem with the traction control on my Astra..while I am driving the warning light comes on the dashboard and removes my ABS and traction! I cannot see what triggers it (if anything) and it is intermittant - loathe to take it to the dealer as I am not convinced they would find anything and then charge me an arm and a leg.

Any views would be appreciated.
Cheers

Faulty ABS sensor(s), or cracked ring on the driveshaft maybe? Both the ABS and TC system use the same sensors.

The following site explains how you can test the sensors.

You will need to get a diagnostic check to establish the fault. It is likely to be an abs sensor problem(one for each wheel) .I assume this is an Astra G model (1998 onwards),then the sensor is part of the wheel hub and is not replacable seperately. However it is possible that the fault is with the connecting lead from the wheel arch wiring to the sensor,a much cheaper fix. Also check operation of the brake lights, this can cause abs light to show.

I appreciate your help - thanks
At least I can feel more sure about where to point the mechanic.
I will get the sensors checked asap.
