yes this is the point, I know Parkers say about £6000 but I think thats way out.

I was hoping to get a real value price if possible?

Galss's via Vauxhall 'value your car' web site gives part exchange value of 5700 excellent cond. down to 5K for average; assuming I put the right car in.

i would rather buy a headache as the anadins are cheap to fix it :)
£50,000 new and now struggling to pull £3000
stick it in auto trader with all its good points and look for an ex managing director thats lost a bundle but needs some cheap prestige?

Thanks Oldman. Actually this one was £55000

My personal opinion these car a lovely to drive and handle vey weel for such a large car but it only gets 22 mpg around town which I can't really justify anymore.

Exactly. If you're thinking that, imagine the worries of someone thinking of dipping their toe into the water of old prestige cars?

If you've only got £3-5K to spend, then 22mpg is going to be harder to stomach than it was for the original buyer at £55k.

With petrol prices going skywards, these kind of cars are going to be rapidly worth less and less second hand, until they only become affordable to run as an end-to-end package of fuel, purchase price where one has to fall in order to compensate for the other.

The problem is, how many people sit there and think that they'll buy a thirsy car for less than their overall car purchase budget, in order to leave cash aside for the fuel? Not many I bet. Most people want to scrape together enough cash to buy the most expensive (i.e. newest) car they can find and find the running costs on a monthly basis.

£3K is not a bad price because they will have to ship it out to a dealer in this market ,not really a everyday seller so could be hanging around a while a big risk to a dealer when he can shift loads of small people cars.A dealer in Huddersfield has had a mint 98 735 fully loaded on a private plate at £5k and its been there a year to my knowledge, petrol at near on a £1 a litre mega tax and insurance its a very specialist market put it on E bay

When my mate chopped in his 1990 750iL B12 Alpina last year the garage gave him 3K IIRC, that must've been about 70K new. The depreciation on these beemer go fatser luxobarges makes the Omega's look reasonable :-/

It "books" at about 4800 trade but I think it will struggle to obtain that. Nobody wants it for the same reason you're getting rid of it. I reckon about 4000 is roughly the going rate although not many dealers will be interested in it at any price.
