Toad the beloved Supra has about 13.5 k miles and is M registration. Most of these miles were in Nippon land too, and he only has clocked about 1500 miles in the last three or four years in the good (?) old UK.

Mind you, these last were sanguinary quick miles!

And Sonia the Sonata is now doing about 1.5 k per annum, thanks to Tesco home delivery.

I really must burn more Optimax!

There was once a story in, iirc, Practical Classics a while ago where some gent bought a new Austin Metro some time in the early eighties. The car was driven home and promptly put in the garage......for the next two decades. The car literally had just a handful of miles on it, and was over 20 years old. If my memory serves me right the guy intended the car to become a valuable asset.

You often find a few cars for sale with extremely low mileage, and their prices are sometimes just as extreme. There was a Mk2 (about 1984 ish) Polo on eBay last month with just 9000 miles on, and in Practical Classics again last month, there was a 1,400 mile 1984 Escort 1.3 GL for £4995!

"The car was driven home and promptly put in the garage".

Short of not buying it in the first place, what better to do with a Metro?

Buy it and promptly scrap it perhaps ?

I once cleaned, if you can call it that, an MGB Roadster that had less than 100 miles on the clock and that was only about 2 years ago.
It was bought along with another one at the same time as a backup for when the other one went past its sell by date as they were going out of production, only the first one never let him down so it stood in one of those bubbles I believe, for 20 years.
It was featured in one of the classic car mags and soon after, it appeared at a local traders garage who I was cleaning cars for.
He paid 8k for it and sold it to MG Heritage for 12k I think it was, so I wonder whats happened to it since.
It really was as new - even had the plastic still on the seats.

Hasn´t someone done something similar recently for their newborn grandchild - wrapping a MINI in bubble wrap or something ready for their 17th b/day in 2021?

So our Mini - 23,000 in 21 years = 1096 miles per year. Not too shabby!
