buying a van..... - Rocket
Hi,
does anyone know of anywhere where you can buy ex company vans like Royal Mail or BT vans?

Many thanks in advance.....

Keep an eye on HJ's auction reports in the news section on the right of the screen. Check the forthcoming auctions as there are regular van sales shown each month.

BT Website used to sell these, my search for "vans" produced a page in Chinese !

Clik Auctionview link to our left & select CommercialAuctionview.

Royal mail are Auctioned at several centres UK wide. Also British Gas, too.

BT don't show in auction quite so much - lot smaller fleet theeses days. They are sold through a few dealers willing to pay the premium price, their vans attract. Reasonably well maintained, light use & single drivers, mean a pretty good van for the second owner. Plus not many horrid grey ones left now!!

If you particularly want ex-BT then try www.btfleet.com or you can ring them direct for availability on 0121 780 7400.

Can vouch that the control on bodywork state and repair is pretty strict on them these days and servicing is regular so tend to be pretty good buy but obviously that will attract a premium.

Plus point for the future might be for non-smokers, as from this week all BT vans have become compulsory non-smoking so any 06 on vehicles coming on the market in future should be fug free!

Guy in the village has just had a new BT van, he had the other one from new. I would have paid BT over the odds for it 'cos I know what he's like - very fastidious.

You're quite right PU, as usual. BT vans tend to be one or two driver usually and as the guys spend a large part of their time in them they tend to keep them up to scratch. Plus their managers are expected to inspect them every so often to make sure they are kept reasonably clean and tidy.

Funniest thing I've read all day!

Mate works for BT, vans get the living colours kicked out of them, and his last Transit wasn't serviced for 20,000 miles.

Went past my local BT depot a few weeks ago and there were about 10 vans, transits & escorts with for sale signs on

I have bought both a transit and an escort direct from BT some years ago. Cuts out the middle man and had absolutely no problems. I will try to dig out a 'phone number. If I can find it I'll be back, but I won't print it here. Should I send it to one of the mods?

Bt fleet South can be contacted on 0208 298 1072
BT are now selling to retail customers and trade ,prices are quite high but the vans are exceptionally well maintained and serviced.
they usually have Fiestas,Escorts (only a few of these left),old and new shape transits (white fleet, most of the greys have gone now)and i ve seen a few Astras (51 reg) and a handful of Connects
You can buy them with a warranty if you are a private buyer which is included in price

You'll see the Vauxhall brand on BT fleet, from now on - the long standing Ford buying policy has ended.
