2.0 Mondeo '01 throttle sticking..... - jester
I have a 2001 Mondeo 2.0 16v Duratec. The throttle pedal sticks sometimes when initially depressed and I was wondering what this could be. Has anyone come across this problem? Is it the cable or throttle body itself playing up? Is it a known fault?

Could it be a carpet mat catching the pedal?

Not sure if this is at all related, but have a read anyway:-

Unlikely to be the same problem as a 99V, different engine etc.

Diesel 2000 on Mondeo's have a clutch position sensor (switch) that tells the ECU when the clutch is being engaged/disengaged, if this needs adjusting/replacing the revs can seem to hang for a second or so between gear changes, could be the same on the petrol engine models.

I had the same problem in my Mondeo, the dealer replaced the throttle housing, it was the flap that was sticking. It was done under warranty a few years ago.

I found it worse in cold weather.
