£4150.
That sounds a bit steep David - i picked up a 2 month old Mondeo TDCi for less than that last week at auction. ;-)

Sorry for the lack of details guys. Looking for a Y reg or younger and any model under 2 litres. Also anything below 80K in mileage.

Under 2 litres presumably includes the 2.0 petrol as that's slower than the 1.8 turbo. Obviously you also have the 1.9 diesels as well which are much more economical and much more expensive to buy.
Below 80k for a five year old Passat is going to be low mileage, not high... although obviously if you're after a 2 year old then it's high miles.
Looking on the Trader here: tinyurl.com/8dbw7 suggests that dealers are asking from £4k up for cars that just scrape into you requirements, which suggests £3,500 or so at auction as an average price. 1.8 turbos and diesels will go for more than petrols, SEs and Sports (most with climate control, all with alloys at that age) more than the basic S spec.
The Passat scores highly for perceived quality (rather than actual reliability), space and image but is a pretty lacklustre driving experience, quite thirsty and will need a timing belt immediately if it's anywhere near that age and mileage and still on the original one.
