Hi. Can anyone help. Would this starter motor fit my 1997 Mondeo 1.8 TD (facelift), or would I need a different one for a diesel?

Sorry - starter motors are different on the diesels. However, you shouldn't have a lot of trouble finding one.

No.
The starter motor you need is for the 1.8 Turbo Diesel. The 52 plate Mondeo will have the 2.0 TDCi which is a completely different engine.

Not 100% certain but usually diesel starters are heavier duty than petrol ones as it's harder to get a diesel to turn over and start.

i would say no, the positioning, bolt center measurements, etc etc could well be different. Give your local Ford dealer a ring and ask them for model number then compare.
