i have a problem with the above car. it seems it has low compression on number1 cylinder. Im not burning oil, and it hasent overheated. has anyone got any ideas what could be causing the problem. could it possibly be a faulty tappet are they hydraulic?cheers for any help

Does the compression increase when you do a wet test?

ie, add a small amount of oil into the cylinder and try again.

The oil will help seal worn piston rings and increase the reading, but if the reading doesn't increase then you've got leaky valves.

Thanks for ure reply,Couldn't tell you if it had a wet test done on it.It was a nissan dealer that ran it on a diagnostic machine it was showing misfire on cylinder 1 then they carried out a compression test and found out that it was low in compression. They want to strip head down to find out problem and charge me loads but if i had a idea of fault i would try myself to repair.

Did they conduct any other tests to find out what's causing the misfire? Plugs, HT leads for example?
