Volvo vadis code reader - volvotrier
I have the Vadis CD which is a really useful guide to repairs etc but would be much better if I had the connection tool for Volvo cars which would let me find fault codes. Does anyone know of a source please?

Have a look at:

www.scantool.net/scanned_list.shtml#nissan ---- it also lists Volvo cars.

The 100$ box shown there produces a serial data stream (RS232) at 9600 baud (bits per sec) when plugged into the car's OBDII connector, (lead supplied). You then have to connect it to a PC or a suitable PDA to read the data.

Otherwise you will need a self contained analiser that has a suitable display and these can be expensive.

Use this search in google: ^EOBDII ^data ^encoding ^European
(substitute a plus sign for the ^ and note the space in front of it)

Also have a look at www.gendan.co.uk/

and: www.cnuio.com/en/03.asp

China is a possible source of cheaper electronics. Problem is getting your hands on the right box of tricks.
