Suddenly, I'm having problems changing gear.
And I mean suddenly, it seemed ok a few days ok.
From rest, I have great difficulties engaging reverse .... resulting in a lot of grinding.
Others seem stiff too, and it is easier to engage 2nd than 1st.
2nd seems to engage as soon as I release clutch pedal.
The car has 42k on the clock.
I'm no expert.
Does this sound like a new clutch required ?
If so , is that an expensive job ?
Might it be something else ?
Thanks in advance

p.s.
also difficult to change gear when mobile.

OK - got it sorted !!
I took it to my usual garage, driving most of the way in 2nd gear.
He found a fluid leak where the pipe from clutch pedal meets the gearbox. He replaced the pipe, and the 'plate' (or something) at the gearbox end of the pipe.
Back on the road now for just shy of a hundred notes. Still, I'm sure a new clutch would have cost a lot more. Anyone care to estimate how much ?
