Hi all,

Any help here is a appreciated.

I recently purchased a 1996 BMW 316i. While driving the car i seem to lose power and the rev drops really low and i cant get any speed.

When i pull up the engine cuts out and battery light comes on. I then start the car and it has real trouble pulling away and then the same problem of being in gear and having trouble moving. I filled up the car with petrol and it seemed to stop the problem. but after 4 days the problem came back.

Any advice or anything at all is appreciated.

if u filled the car full?? with petrol and after u have used some it is back,,,,then it sounds like starvation,,, or dodgy fuel pump,,,or even a blocked filler cap...


take off the filler cap to start with and run with that for a while,,or even just loosen it.....if it isnt that then i reckon its the fuel pump.....

does the engine run fine??

hi,

after filling the car again the problem was still there.

I took the car to the garage and they said the lambda control (might not be lambda but was something similar) was not working correctly - meaning the exhaust wasnt working properly. Have left it in the garage for them to have a look and should hopefully have it back tomorrow. Anyone else has this problem occur before?

well the control didnt fix the problem. The garage cant see whats wrong it and are having to send it off to a BMW specialist.
