Fiat Punto 2003 Model . - fiat wrecker
Can anyone help here .. my Fiat Punto has had its engine inner parts burnt / melt due to a radiator leak which I did not spot , the car continued to run oblivious that it had a leak, the head etc and inner parts have been as stated burnt.
I need to know where what I can do to repair it and where can be recommended to do this ..
Been quoted approx 2k in the Fiat garage ..

I'm no expect but £2k to fix!! You could surely get a replacement engine fitted for less than that. What parts are you being told have 'melted'? If the head gasket has blown, I can't see it costing anywhere near this to fix even if you need to have the head skimmed -- in case the heat caused it to warp. I had a similar problem with my daughters VW polo 1.0 and including new cam belt, water pump, new valve stems and head skim the bill was about under £300 all in. This was from a one man independent.
Quite simply you should get a second or third opinion on this. If you can get a personal rec on a good independent then do so.
Good luck
