Peugeot 106 - Inveravon
On my way back from work today my K reg Peugeot 106 started making a screeching sound as I went to change gear, especially when I was changing at a higher speed, e.g. 3rd to 4th/4th to 5th. Screeching continued when rolling at speed in neutral and then appeared to quiten down (as if something was slowing down while turning) as speed declined.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is, and how I could fix it?

Would that be connected to the clutch? My fanbelt def needs looking at - has been making a screeching noise for a week or so not in mornings when cold, but not in afternoon as warmer. The two sounds are distinctly different but not sure if linked to the same prob! Thanks mate

Get the fan belt sorted out first and go from there. In other words eliminate one problem before moving onto the next. Chances are it's the same problem anyway.
