Nissan Primera - Peter
I have just bought a 2.0 turbo diesel, S reg, 91K.

Can anyone tell me what type of drive is used for the cams. Chain or belt, if the latter at what mileage should it be changed.

Thank you.

Petrol has a chain, but the diesel has a belt.

Also mention of it in HJ's cbcb.

Its a belt on a 54k miles or 5 year change interval. Its an 'interference' engine - so the engine is damaged if the belt snaps.
The book time at a dealers is about 3.5 hours - a straightforward job that any independent used to Diesels should be able to do.
