Morning all, how do you and how easy is it to remove the plastic wheel arch insert ? I need to get at a dent just above the bumper and just behind the indicator.I do not want to use too much filler.

Not removed an Astra one, but if it's similar to a Cavalier & Vectra, then it will be held on with a combination of screws and press studs. The press studs have a plastic dowel in the centre of them that spread out four little 'fingers'. Therefore you have to push the plastic dowel out first before removing the press stud. If you can see the other side of the plastic stud on the inner wing in the engine bay, then you will be able to recover the dowel. Some though go into blind holes. The studs are easily obtainable from Vauxhall though.
As the dent is just behind the indicator, it *might* be easier to remove that instead. IIRC, the indicator is attached to the headlight. You might be able to unscrew it from the headlight assembly, or you might have to remove both to gain access to the dent.
As you're filling anyway, you could always drill a small hole in the centre of the dent, then temporarily screw in a self tapper, leaving enough sticking out to grab with a pair of pliers / molegrips, and pull the dent out.

Cheers dave. That's this weekends task then.
