Buying a used RX8 - turnip666
I am looking at a 12 month old RX8, 16000 km's (I'm in Australia). It has been serviced on schedule very 6 months.

Reading the forums here I see that the engine has a few particular requiements, short runs etc.

Is there anything that can be done, in case the engine has been mistreated? It doesn't show any problems at the moment.

IIRc from NSU Ro80 days, the wankel engine prefers long runs to short stop start work. The engines can use a lot of oil, but not all, so you need to check the oil regularly. It is not a problem apparantly if they do use oil.

I assume that you have the balance of a 3 year warranty - so why worry?

Make sure the previous owner has regularly checked the oil - it is not uncommon for the RX8 to get through 1 litre of oil every 500 miles.
