with a fascinating article on the Moss - Jenkinson 1955 Mille Miglia victory in MB 300SLR. The days when they had proper (and very dangerous) road races.

The May edition of 'Motorsport' also had a great article on it including Denis Jenkinson's legendary account of the race. Makes the 159mph cop seem rather tame in comparison!

What brought it home to me was the UK analogy:

London, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, York and back to London.

Set out at 7.22am, back in London by 5.30pm!!

Average speed 98 mph!
