Fiesta And Mondeo air con woes - Ford Dagenham
Hello.

What is the average price for regassing etc for a Fiesta and or a Mondeo.

They dont seem to be pumping out really cold air anymore.

And the Fiesta keeps switching on and off even when the ambient temp is high.

The Mondeo is just not cold at all.

All help greatly appreciated.

I would have thought the same as per other cars - around the £60 to £100 mark.

That is of course providing nothing else is wrong.

How old are the cars, and when, if ever, was the last time they had a regas?

Hello.

The mondeo is a Y registered 2.0 Lx it has never had any air con maintenance.

The Fiesta is a W registered 1.25 Lx And also has not had any maintenance on the air con.

It needs to be done soon as the hot weather is nearing.

The mondeo probably needs a new condensor, as these fall apart at the bottom within a few years. Reckon on £350 for that.

The Fiesta compressor cycling is caused by very low gas, so again, a leak is the likely source. It could be just the pressure switch that cycles the compressor, but life isn't always that simple. Sometimes the crappy springlock connectors that ford use go bad and leak, more likely somethings busted.

If both systems are empty, then putting more gas in won't get you far.

Hello.

thankyou for the replies.

I will get both cars booked in for tests and i will let you know what happens.

If the Mondeo needs a new condesor it shall have one.

The Fiesta air con still works so it cant have a bad leak i suspect its because i have not switched it on all the time and its all leaked out as the gas has lubricant in it i think.

After todays weather i think i will get them booked in asap.
