cant you read he gave you the number in your original thread

Chris, I don't know if this is the one you mean, but HJ has frequently recommended people to use King Automatics of Epsom. You'll find their contact details in the Good Garage Guide under Epsom --

I shouldn't worry too much. Chances of a Lada towing a Daewoo on an old bit of rope down to Epsom must be pretty limited. Even the doziest traffic PC is going to think it a bit dodgy. Worth putting up with the insufferable Alastair Stewart just to see it on Police Camera Action with a bit of luck.

Realising that Whitley Bay to Epsom is a long way to transport a sick auto (might not be possible simply to tow it) I originally gave Chris the number of the Federation of Automatic Transmission Engineers which is 07885 228595 in the hope he could be directed to a decent local autbox specialist. But really the best way to find a good local guy is to ask around.

the problem with this area (the north east), is that all the mechanics i know are con-men who bodge jobs, then charge the earth.

Chris - make sure you read the handbook VERY Carefully before towing.
One good way of totally poking an auto box is to tow incorrectly. If neccessary, get it onto a flatbed.
