Hey there,

was just wondering if somebody could tell me how to see the visable condition of cambelt and the pulley?

I've read that you have to look underneath the engine, but when looking I cannot see anything,

Unlikely you can see the belt without removing the covers, a pig of a job in itself. If the car has covered more than 50k miles I would advise having it changed anyway, belt and pullies. Its an absolute so'n'so of a job, I have done one and have torn the page out of the book to remind me not to do one again! Aparrently it is slightly easier if you undo all the engine mounts and wedge the engine towards the nearside. The two piece bottom pulley has a habit of falling apart so consider changing it at this time, only adds about £125 to the bill. French cars, Gallic flair, Huh!
