Oil Top up Corolla - misterp

Considering how we are encouraged to check the oil on a regular basis and top up if necessary, I am finding it difficult to get clear info to help me decide What I should buy.

Corolla diesel d4d.

Toyota Garage tell me Shell helix 10w40 (not what it says in the manual (5w30))

halfords chart says somthing else. If my garage is using 10w40, OK but then I discover there is Shell 10w40 for Diesels. So I don't know if they using the specific Diesel one or the regular or does it matter which one I buy to top up as long as it is helix 10w40 ???

Oil Top up Corolla - quizman

If I were you I would do what the manual says and use 5W-30.

Garages are hopeless with oil advice, and will tell you to use whatever they have got.

Shell do a 5W-30 oil for Zetec engines, so I would use that.
