buying a new car - Nicole17
Hi,

Is it a good idea to buy a car now that will be having a face lift in the next few months.

Depends how much discount you can get from the dealer. When the new model comes out, the value of the older one will drop quite sharply.

Depends on a lot of things:
1. How long are you going to own it, swap after 1,2 years or keep 5 years plus.
2. How much will it cost to buy, has it been discounted with the new model due in.
3. What is the percieved quality of the marque, prestige or common( sic)
4.What incentive can you get from the Dealer with the old model, 3 years free servicing, Recovery, extras, etc
5.How long it,ll take to supply, if they can deliver quickly has it been sat on a Dockside or Airfield for the last 6 months, over supply= plummeting value.
6.Do you need the car now or can you wait untill the new model is in
7.Personally i would wait till the new model is out then buy a old version taking cash to the dealer he will want rid of the old model ask his best price then drop it by 2 to 3K Whats the worst that could happen you,ll come away with no car. They need you more than you need them.

If you want to look even more attractive, skip the facelift (there are dangers and subjects often look terrible afterwards) and buy a bicycle.
