My X-reg Punto with aircon suffers from a damp passenger footwell after rain. This leads to overnight misting and sometimes internal frosting. Under the bonnet, there is a large trough with two drain holes. I always keep these clear and can discover no other leak. Has any other Punto owner experienced this and found a cure please?

Have you checked the door seal ?
Where is the air inlet for the ventilation ? Passats are famous for having leaky pollen filters deposit small ponds in the passenger footwell.

I'll second the pollen filter on the Focus. I had a whole load of water in mine because of that.
