Fiesta Finesse 2004 knocking noise

Fiesta Finesse 2004 knocking noise - RFB
I own a Fiesta Finesse 2004. Thereis a knocking noise coming from the rear of the car that I am unable to identify. I've tried the usual, i.e. removing everthing from the boot etc. Any ideas?

Need a bit more info really. Is it all the time ? Does it vary in proportion with road speed ? Is it just when you go over bumps / round corners ? Does it stop when you apply the brakes ?

Loose exhaust mount?
Spare wheel not securely in it's carrier (that's if Ford still put them under the car, and not in the boot?)
Shock absorber mount?

There is a common fault with the Mk6 Fiesta/Fusion. The catches holding the rear seat backs may not be adjusted properly in the factory, so the seat back rattles.

Sounds unlikely? Just drive around with the seat back folded down and see. Warranty repair.

Thanks for that Ian. Indeed, the rattle disapears with the rear seat backs down. The car is still under warranty but I wanted to take it back with something specific. It saves a lot of time & mucking about.
