Hello

Should my air conditioning hiss loudly after i have finished using it.

I hear the his when i switch the engine off and get out of the car.

I get the same - if I stay in the car after having switched the engine off, there is a sound somewhat like a bath emptying!

I guess it must be normal operation - a pump continuing to circulate the air con fluid for some technical reason... evening temperature differences out in the system??

The noise you hear is cold a/c liquid warming up and evaporating inside the system..

Perfectly normal.. all the time on my cars with a/c except I can't recall it on a 1988 Mercedes 260E: but that's probably old age:-)

You're already relieved I know - but does it on my Focus as well. I only noticed it yesterday when I got out and then picked something up off the drive.

Sounds like a pressure relief valve that operates when there is no more coldness being made
