Yes, the '69 Bullitt Mustang 351. We did the front brake disc conversion, sorted out the trans with expensive bits FedExe'd from Oklahoma, rebuilt the Holley 4bbl carb (check the HJ pix site for pix) but the electrics remain a mystery to even the most inventive of Filipino mechanics.
I will flog it to one of those aged Vietnam vets who reside in the Philippines so he can drag race it on Sundays on Clark Airbase, and lick my financial wounds. Just that I will miss that V-8 exhaust rumble from the days when cars were cars and before PC eco-loonies had been ill-conceived by their hippy mothers.... I think a 40 day period of mourning is called for..
I'm going outside to eat worms.....

Just don't talk with your mouth full!!
Sorry to read the news.
The real question though is what will replace it?

I had my eye on a gorgeous red '57 Plymouth (remember Christine?)with those rocket-ship tailfins and bullet lights plus green tint and the dashboard push-button auto trans, owned by a retired USAF Vet about 80 years old (him not the car), Hemi engine, but it needs work and would have been another money-pit.
Pure rock 'n roll. Jerry Lee Lewis on wheels.
We'll see.

you could make a tape of the v8 engine noises as you give it a good work-out, transfer it to C.D, and play it very loudly in your normal car,as you trundle around the roads in town. :-(

That's terrible news, G. I shall need a lot of beer to get over that... :-(
|
You're still around then, Growler.
Saw an item on Teletext about a wedding guest in the Phillipines who'd been dismembered, cooked and eaten at the reception after fondling the brides bum.
I did wonder...
|
"I did wonder..."
That Growler was the guest, or that it was his wedding? Both equally probable, I imagine... :-)

Wedding? Me? twice already, I'm a slow learner. Never again. I have eaten dog meat I must admit to be sociable amongst my local biker pals but that's it. Well, Anthony Bourdain or whatever his name is on the Discovery Channel & Adventure Channel eats worse than that. I was watching what he consumed on his visit to Hanoi. A city I love but whose food requires careful inspection first. Battered grasshoppers I can live without.
Nope, the Mustang has to go. The electrics are an absolute mess. I need a V-8 around the place to feed my addiction so will be on the lookout for a replacement. So many American cars left here after the bases were closed I won't have to wait for too long.
Maybe a Dodge Challenger à la Vanishing Point?

"Wedding? Me? twice already, I'm a slow learner. Never again."
Ditto.
A Challenger sounds fun. Was there ever a better engine than the Chrysler Hemi?

I'm sure you'll be sorry to see it go
I'm going outside to eat worms.....
Singing out of key...
Nobody loves me,
Everybody hates me,
Thinks I'll go and eat worms.
Long thin skinny ones,
Short fat slimey ones,
Worms that wiggle and squirm.
