Ford Mondeo TDCi resonance - GrahamM
My 53 reg Mondeo TDCi 130 LX developed a resonance between 1800-2000 rpm, just where the engine developes maximum torque in each gear. Not horrendous, but it spoils the refinement of the car and is extremely annoying. The workshop manager at my local Ford dealers came out in the car with me and identified it as being caused by the turbopipe vibrating against the chassis rail because of inadequate insulation. Ford know of the problem and have produced a fixing kit for dealers, which the WM fitted. All was well for few weeks, then the resonance came back. WM checked and found the fixing kit was still in place, and tried re-positioning the turbopipe bracket. Again, all was OK for a few weeks, then it started up again. Before I take the car in again, has anyone had the same sort of experience, or any views, advice etc to offer, please? Many thanks, Graham
