S type rear brake pad fitting - STattam

2001 3.0 V6 sport. Handbrake actuates the pads in the caliper itself, not like the good old Vauxhall seperate shoes within disc/drum setup.

Tried to force the pistons back to replace the pads in the usual way, wouldn't budge, and the handbrake was off. Is the caliper faulty or am I missing something?

thanks in advance

If they are like the old rover.the pistons will be screw in.which may mean special tool to screw back in.I may be wrong?

Yes, see if there is a screw or allen key screw inside the piston, this is how my mazda was, if not, try undoing the bleed nipple as you push the piston in.

There are a couple of holes/slots in the face of the piston. You wind the piston back into the caliper using these.
