Folks,
Only one of my cooling fans works. The one on the right dosnt spin at all. Is this a simple fix or somthing more complicated?

Is the redundant fan the one for the air con? Hence should only come on intermitantly when the a/c is on.

the second fan rarely comes on.It is controlled by a temp sensor set higher than fan number one.You can test the fan by disconnecting it and applying 12 volts directly to it.The second fan on C5 (same set up)comes on only on extremely hot days when I have been using the aircon.If the temp gauge is not reading to high all is well in the camp.

Unless the V6 is wired differently to all the other 406's, then both fans should run at 1/2 speed when the a/c is on, rising to full speed if the a/c pressure gets above 17.5 bar, or the engine temp gets too high.
They're normally wired to run in series for low spped, and in parrallel for full speed. What normally happens on 406's is one fan quits, meaning you get nothing until engine temp or a/c pressure gets high, as the broken fan stops the other working as they're in series. Then when pressure or temp gets up the remaining one comes on when it gets fed 12v direct. Turn the a/c on and see what happens. If only one comes on at full power intermittantly then the other one's knackered. It's fairly common on these, and there was a TSB for fires due to electrical problems as well.
