I keep getting asked which towns the first two letters on the new number plates refer to. Is there a published list?
On the ealier thread: I thought the new compact style of the new font was so that a euro star sign could be fitted on the end.

I'll be having a Union Flag on my next (otherwise fully legal) plate. Will any copper seriously pull me for it, as long as I keep it clean and legible?

Maybe not in England, but don't go to Europe with it. Friend of mine was pulled over in Austria because he was driving a vehicle now registered in France which still had a GB sticker on it. "Are you from England or France?" he was asked. As he was en route from Italy at the time he was rather confused and answered accordingly.
He had to scrape off the offending sticker before he was allowed to proceed on his journey.
