Golf 2 Steering wheel judder

Golf 2 Steering wheel judder - Tony Soprano
The steering wheel on my VW Golf Driver 1.6,G reg judders at low speeds.I`ve had the tyres balanced,the tracking done(by laser),brand new cv joints,and even swapped the front and back wheels around in case a wheel was buckled,any ideas?

Do you have any wobble on steering wheel ie up/down movement
only ask as steering column bearings may be worn.if not possible column to rack uj needs replacing.or rack mountings could cause the same prob? just a thought

Try checking suspension bushes,look for cracks,jack up and test for movement,use a bar to increase leverage.Hold the road wheel and waggle horizontally then vertically.If there is any play(in track rod ends,rack or wheelbearings)you should feel it.
