Seat Cordoba Vario Miss Firing - AlhambraDriver
I am having a problem with my 1998 1.6 Cordoba Vario ( 58k Fsh ) . The car miss fires/hesitates intermittently whilst driving along, particularly up hill. This happens at any temparature and at any road speed. So far my Seat dealer has replaced the HT leads , the distributor cap , drained the fuel tank and replaced the fuel pump relay , all to no avail. Can any one help Pleaseeeeeeee?

This may well be caused by a faulty or dirty MAF sensor. However they are fairly pricey so it would be advisable to ask your dealer to conduct further checks(fault codes, sensor output when problem occurs) or even try a 'known good' MAF sensor. It is a very common failure on these engines.

On a Diesel, I'd say MAF but in this case, I'd suspect faulty HT components. Check/replace in this order - Spark Plugs, HT Leads, Distributor cap & rotor arm. The rotor arms commonly burn out whilst the HT leads are a well known weak point.

Let us know how you get on.
