I'm just finishing an engine bay clean up on a Triumph 2000 MK2 and have hit a wobble...Can anyone help me coz I've tried to paint the rocker/air box/oil cannister and I'm having problems in getting the right colour and "shineyness".I've tried using high temp paint, used on exhausts, but they are all matt. As I've been told they can't make a really high temperature paint in gloss. Any ideas????? HELP.............

I've never seen glossy paint stay on a petrol engine for long.....

I painted a sump Hammerite smooth and it seemed to stand the heat. Yes these areas get hot but not blistering hot.

HHHMMMMMMM...Something in an aerosol would be perfect as the brush marks can be unsightly.

Don't Sperex do a gloss? I shouldn't think these items would get all that hot, anyway, not much more that boiling point.

I'm sure Frosts do some...
www.frost.co.uk/
They do a gloss radiator paint and others.

High temperature paint is designed for very hot surfaces (the clue is in the name "High") like exhausts. Hammerite is ok for the other surfaces on an engine but should not be used on the exhaust as it gives off toxic fumes when heated above a certain temperature (IIRC it tells you on the can).

Yeah, but an exhaust gives off toxic fumes anyway.
