i had a similar problem with my Passat TDI 130 bhp, it turned out to be the injectors, umber three (which is computer controled by a small diode) was going funny. I changed it and the problem disapeared!

Sounds like a similar problem I had a few years ago. My Golf TDI performed normally until i approached a steep hill and lost power in 5th and 4th at 2500-300rpm. A new air filter solved the problem. Hope yours is as easy to fix.

I have an Audi 80 Avant. See my post under 'Audi Avant not accelerate.' As I see it, going to a Bosch specialist essential. Could be one or more of a myriad of things. Their diagnostic machine test values narrow possibilities down. Without that test, you could be at it forever, and never get there. All for sake of a £40 test.

How recent is the fuel filter? I had one clog up a couple of years ago on my Passat 1.6td causing reduced power under heavy load.

Martin - Wouldn't your 130TDi Passat still be under warranty??
Agree with the Bosch specialist route - money well spent plus you're not paying Dealer rates either. Who wants Rita the greeter, a coffee lounge and TV, plus todays paper?
