VW Polo - squealing/dragging sound - Modrica
Hi,
I have problem with the squealing/dragging sound on my VW Polo 1.3 from 1992.

The squealing or dragging sound is constant and it only stops when I press the clutch pedal in.

Can someone explain what the problem is?
What do I have to fix?

Sounds like the clutch thrust bearing needs changing.

My 1997 Polo has a similar-sounding noise. In my case it isn't very loud - it's drowned out by other noises at motorway speeds.
The noise was noticable at 50k miles and got worse up to about 60k but since then (now 103k) hasn't changed significantly.
As DD suggests, I have been advised that it is the clutch thrust bearing and to leave it until it gets noisier or the clutch wears out.
