Two questions:
1. Is there any benefit in changing spark plugs more often than the manufacturers recommendation ? Toyota recommends 40K for my Toyota - but since I do 35K per annum, I have to change them yearly !
2. Anyone know any good independent Toyota garages in Cambridgeshire, as Toyota want £55 to change the plugs - is that expensive ?

£55 sounds about. They are platinum tips plugs and they are not cheap. I recently changed the 6 on my QX with NGK ones and they are £10.35 each including VAT from Partco (and they have to be ordered in), totalling £62.11. There are 4 on a Corolla so that is £41.40.

In the Carina E, platinum-plated plugs lasted a quoted 60,000 miles so you might get away with once every two years ...
