I've been told that the central locking on my 2001 VW Passat can be programmed so that the car locks itself at speeds above 15 mph and unlocks when the ignition key is taken out. My VW dealer wasn't sure and seemed rather vague about it.
Has any one experience of doing this and/or comments and prices please?

It's in the workshop manual so the dealer can find the details.
Will take them five mins using the diagnostic computer and if you talk to them nicely, they should do it for free (but then again!)

When I bought my passat 5 months ago the sales man knew about this feature, but the workshop didn't!!
The doors actually lock above 10mph, and at the end of the journey, when you remove the key from the ignition, all 4 doors unlock.
The car can also be programmed to open just the drivers door using the key fob, or all 4 doors.
As I had all of this enabled on purchase I don't know what it costs.
