Gearbox Oil Filler Plug will not undo - andrew4
Hi All

I have a VW Golf (81,000 miles).

I have tried to check my gearbox oil level but the filler plug will not undo. I have used a fair amount of torque using the correct fitting socket, the plug is in a difficult place as well.

Any suggestions?

What Golf ? is it a Mk III and when you say socket it worries me my 1.8 ABS engine requires a hex plug drive not a female socket check this as the drain plug is the same.

It is a Mk II Golf 1300 1991. The drain plug is below the filler plug and is the same.

Hopefully. you did not remove the drain plug before checking the working order of the filler!

This is a common mistake, and a lesson once learned never forgotten.
